IDL Programming Services
I can provide professional IDL coding and software development to suit your project. I have plenty of experience with writing code for large projects
and collaborations, and my expertise lies in finding programming solutions for complicated problems, whether they be of a scientific nature or not.
I have also specialised in providing automatic systems for a number of projects, and I understand the reliability and accountability that such systems
require.
If you are interested in hiring my services, then please contact me by email via
dan.bramich "AT" hotmail.co.uk.
I will be pleased to provide an estimate of the work involved to create your solution, and I charge a very reasonable
rate of 40 euros per hour for code development.
IDL Code Optimisation Service
There are many techniques for optimising the speed and performance of IDL code, some of which are relatively obvious, and some which are very subtle
in nature. Having been in the situation where my scientific calculations have required highly optimised code in order to be able to complete them
in a reasonable amount of time, I have become an expert in IDL code optimisation, both for speed and memory. I regularly achieve speed improvements
of 2x or more by applying the simpler techniques for speed optimisation. Further optimisation may take more time and effort, but in some cases
I have managed to achieve upwards of 10x improvements in speed.
If you have IDL code that could do with some optimisation, then please contact me by email via
dan.bramich "AT" hotmail.co.uk.
From a copy of your code, I can estimate the level of optimisation that might be
achieved, and I can provide an estimate of the work involved to implement the optimisations. I charge 30 euros per hour for this service,
and if I cannot obtain a speed increase in your code by at least a factor of 1.5x, then I will provide the optimised code for free!!!
Code optimisation is a classic case of diminishing returns. A small initial effort (~1-2 hours) can reap good improvements in speed,
but further optimisation usually takes increasingly more effort to achieve.
